Forthcoming events

Saturday, May 10th, 2008
The Institute for Environment and Natural Resources organizes a market with rarities in Wädenswil on the premises of the "Hochschule Wädenswil". At this garden fair we have the opportunity to compare and buy plants from several exhibitors/vendors, walk through the gardens and join a lecture about Salvias. We shall meet at 10.15, take part in the lecture at 10.30, have a meal there and go on in the afternoon to visit the 70000 m2 show grounds of the famous garden designer "enea". This show garden has to be understood as a laboratory to test out all the unconventional ideas in garden architecture and to find out how plants develop under new conditions.

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008
"Mercato verde"  is a nursery in Chur, Grisons, specialising in all sorts of fig trees (40 varieties) which yield good table figs ripening even north of the Alps. There will be a guided tour in late morning and visits to sites with dry stone walls made by our member Gerhard Stoll and his team in the environments. Details will follow nearer the date of the event.

Past events

November 2007
At the AGM in Athens we learnt a lot about The Dry Garden. One of the workshops participants could choose from was conducted by our Swiss member Gerhard Stoll and was about Dry-stone walling in a garden next to the MGS garden of Sparoza (Peania).

June 2007
Barbara Pöschel, a renowned pelargonium specialist, showed us her greenhouse and gave a talk with a lot of practical advice about pelargoniums, their history, scent, cultivation and use in cooking. She sends out mail orders in smaller quantities. For details contact Ursula Brunner on +41 56 441 74 85.

From Winterthur we drove on 10 km to Weisslingen where we were invited to visit a member ’s garden in rural surroundings. The roses were at their best.
