Lindsay Blyth gave her report on the AGM in Greece
Branch Head, Lindsay Blyth has had an unusually varied gardening career. She writes:
"I have gardened since I was child and in 1954 was sent to Waterperry Horticultural School from whence I emerged two years later with a Diploma and a RHS Certificate. I married in 1957 and spent the next two and a half years in Calcutta.
"Back in England, I gardened in West Sussex for nearly 18 years until I moved to London where I quickly found three patches of earth. My small house garden featured in Roy Strong's book Creating Small Gardens. I also had an allotment and looked after the garden of a hostel belonging to St Martin-in-the-Fields where I did all the flowers for five years.
Later I had a weekend granny pad in the country where I made a garden and also designed the surroundings of my son-in-law's golf club. Then I moved to Guyana in South America - this was a challenge! My own garden became well known and I wrote a weekly column on native plants for the local paper. I also served on the committee of the local horticultural society and the Biodiversity Park Development Committee.
"Now I am in Andalucia and once again busy with horticultural matters. I belong to three garden societies, one of which The Andalucia Garden Club, I started myself. I shall now do my best to welcome and help MGS Members in the area."
