Forthcoming Events
In the year since our new Pacific Northwest branch began to form and connect with the Puget Sound area gardening community, we have held two tours of members' gardens, which attracted visitors from the entire area. The interest in new plants suitable for the Northwest was so evident from those attending the tours that we have decided to use the donations to bring British gardener and garden writer Will Giles to talk here in April 2008.
Willl Giles has just recently published "The Encyclopedia of Exotic Plants for Temperate Climates" (Timber Press, 2007), a work with 1,400 entries that seems as though it were written with the Pacific Northwest in mind. He has been one of the innovators on the English scene for almost 20 years with his garden near Norwich in East Anglia.(See his site at www.exoticgarden.com.)
He will be speaking at the Islandwood environmental center on Bainbridge Island at 1.30 p.m. on April 20th and again at the Bloedel Reserve, also on Bainbridge Island, at 4.30 p.m. on April 27th. The latter date has limited seating and must be reserved.
For information you can email branch co-chairs Terry Moyemont or Terri Stanley or call at (206)-855-9017.
