FROSTY BLOSSOM
Words by Fleur Pavlidis
Photos by Truly Pavlidis

Driving up past 1,000 metres above sea-level in a mountain (Goulinas) in central Greece in late February, we were amazed to see the trees in full blossom – covered in catkins of a tender pale pink colour. Pulling up to cut a twig and identify the wonder we quickly realized our mistake. Every tiny twig was delicately frosted and the rosy-coloured wood gave the pink sheen to the icicles. The 'blossom' rapidly melted when brought into the car but the phenomenon continued to delight us as we drove on.
