Here is a preview of the delightful gardens and culture that await us in Morocco (video)

Known as 'the rose among palms', Marrakech has a deeply-rooted tradition of making and preserving gardens and green spaces. The programme includes 14 varied and delightful garden visits. The MGS General Assembly will be held in the world-famous Jardin Majorelle in the YSL Auditorium. The Pre- and Post-AGM tour programmes are identical and will journey to Taroudant, a walled Berber town lying just south of the High Atlas to visit several private gardens, riads and palaces. We shall also visit a traditional oasis and encounter the unique argan forests. We will cross the High Atlas Mountains to explore the Mediterranean ecosystems, then descend to Ouirgane to sample Berber culture and traditions before returning to Marrakech. The AGM Programme of Visits and Activities, Marrakech - The 2021 AGM Programme will take place  from Sunday 7 to Wednesday 10 November. Registration and the Opening Reception take place at 19.30 on Sunday evening and the programme finishes with a Closing Dinner (20.00-23.00) on Wednesday evening.

An optional one-day orientation day (including lunch) visiting Marrakech’s historic attractions is on offer on Sunday 7 November so participants need to plan to arrive in Marrakech on Saturday 6 November.  (Subject to availability).

Travel to and Accommodation Marrakech - Participants must make their own travel and accommodation arrangements for arrival and staying in Marrakech.

The Medina and the Riad Experience - The medina is the historical quarter of Marrakesh and is bound by 18 km of rammed earth “pise” walls interspersed with 20 gates or “babs”. A stay at a traditional riad within in the medina is a quintessential Marrakesh experience and there are now over 1000 riads to choose from. Please be aware that the walk from one side to the other side of this densely-populated, chaotic, exotic and unique place will take you over an hour – if not more! Myriad streets with uneven paving teaming with donkeys, scooters, traders and tourists plus very few signposts make progress very slow and it is extremely easy to get lost.

We strongly recommend that participants choose Riads in or close as possible to the Bab Lakssour City Gate where the tour buses will be picking up participants each day.

In Gueliz, Marrakech’s new town, our recommended choice is the 2 Ciels Luxury Boutique and Spa Hotel. This is a modern hotel with a delightful roof terrace and pool and large bright bedrooms. It is situated on a wide street with the greenery of El Haarti gardens in front. It is a Dhs 30 (€3) taxi ride to the Medina but affords guests an escape from that hustle and bustle. The tour buses will pick up directly outside the hotel and this is the best option for anyone who is looking for convenience during the tour.

Pre and Post AGM Tours, Taroudant and High Atlas Mountains - Identical Pre and Post AGM Tours programmes with up to 34 participants each are designed to allow as many participants as possible the opportunity to further explore Morocco’s landscapes, culture and gardens.
